Call for Forth and Tay Bridges.

When the Convention of the Royal Burghs of Scotland debated, in the City Chambers, Edinburgh, last week, the subject of the proposed Forth and Tay road bridges, a motion was put forward and agreed to, to the effect that the time was opportune for a start being made with the work, that the Minister of Transport be requested to sanction the scheme forthwith, and that a substantial grant be given towards the cost of construction.

Provost Walker stated that the previous Minister of Transport had told him that when rearmament slowed down the Government would be glad of the Forth road bridge to keep the steel industry going.
