• Reefer trailer builder Schmitz Cargobull has taken a majority shareholding in Essex trailer sales and aftermarket specialist Al International.
Schmitz says the acquisition fits its strategy of operating regional sales and service cen
tres throughout Europe; this will give it a key foothold in the south of England.
A1-Schmitz Cargobuill will run from the 3.5-acre site that has been home to Al for the past 40 years, offering new reefers, curtainsiders, tippers and container chassis. The company will continue to handle trailer repairs, refurbishment and conversion. The site has 18 workshop bays, three low-bake ovens and a good stock of kit including laser alignment equipment, airless paint spraying and a Bladthawk power cage for chassis alignment
Schmitz has also launched the Silver Arrow service which is designed allow it to deliver temperature controlled trailers in three weeks, with units constructed from pm-engineered components.
Buyers will have 30 features to pick from, representing the most popular variants in Me Schmitz line-up.
