Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Strathclyde police are appealing for witnesses to a lorry hijack in which thieves left the driver gagged and bound for over two hours while thieves escaped with cigarettes worth around £50,000 but left cartons containing whisky worth 2100,000 still on board.

Lorry drivers in particular are being asked to report any sightings of two Ford Transit vans—one white and one blue—which were used in the raid. At least one would have been waiting at a lay-by near the Parklea roundabout close to Glasgow Port sometime after lunchtime on the day of the attack, 31 August.

The incident began at the Blythswood Industrial Estate near Renfrew as a driver working from Interforward Logistic's Hamilton depot ate his lunch in the cab of his white and blue Leyland 17-tonner.

He was approached by two masked men, appearing to be holding a gun, who bound his hands, feet and mouth and then bundled him into the bock of one of the Transits. The driver was driven around for Iwo hours as cigarettes were transferred into the other Transit.

Anyone with information should ring Detective Inspector Ewan MacLean on 0141-886 1113.
