London OAPs get free travel

• Old age pensioners within the Greater London Council area will get free travel from September 23. They will have to pay a fare only during peak hours. The concession will apply on red bus routes within the GLC boundary. Red bus routes outside, and London Country Services inside the area will continue to be charged.

Discussions are to take place before the end of the month with a view to bringing authorities on GLC boundaries into the scheme.
