THE Metropolitan Licensing Authority was this week considering a date for the re-hearing of applications by George Ewer and Co., Ltd., for express services, incorporating feeders from Boreham Wood, between Enfield and Lowestoft and Felixstowe, via Southwold, and Enfield and Harwich,. via Frinton, Walton-on-the-Naze and Dovercourt.

As reported in The Commercial Motor on August 24, the Minister of Transport ordered the re-hearing of the applications, which were originally refused by the Metropolitan Authority. following an appeal by George Ewer.

It is understood that the applications for similar facilities of six operators in the Boreham Wood area will probably be heard at the same time.

NEW AUSTRALIAN COMPETITION A COMPETITION calling for papers ft on bus transport has been instituted by the Australian Road Transport Federation. A first prize of £50 has been donated by Leyland Motors, Ltd., and there will be two further prizes of £30 and £20.

The competition is open to anyone engaged or interested in the road passenger transport industry in the Commonwealth. Entrants may select any subject having a direct bearing on the administration, conduct or operation of buses in Australia.

MERCEDES ASSAULT ON ARABS NAERCEDES BENZ commercial LYI vehicles are to be assembled at a factory to be built in Lebanon. They are to be exported to all the Arab countries. Already nearly half the lorries in Lebanon are of MercedesBenz make. The new factory will assemble 500 lorries and cars a month.
