• -• • MAJ. EASTWOOD SUGGESTS LINKING FOR ECONOMY

GRANTING ran application' by East Yorkshire Motor Services; Ltd., for.. facilities to link 11 excursion and tour. licences from outlying districts of Hull; with their licence from Ferensway coach station in the city centre, Maj. F. S. Eastwood, chairman of the Yorkshire Licensing Authority, said on Tuesda3, that the same thing might have to he -done all over the area.

Coach operators were having a thin time, and they should be allowed to work as economically as possible. There was no reason why the objectors in this case, Messrs. J. Boddy and Son. Hull, should not be granted similar Facilities for feeding into their main starting area. An application would he regarded favourably.

Mr. W. R. Hargrave, for East Yorkshire, said the application was to prevent uneconomic operation. Journeys to Scarborough and other places from outlying districts had been running with as few as six passengers. If vehicles could run into Ferensway. loads could be madeup.

For the objectors, Mr. J. Evans said Boddy's had been licensed from Hull for a number of years. They were objecting to only five of the licences in the application, three of which concerned starting points common to both companies, and two were picking-up points on their line of route.

East Yorkshire, with their vehicle allowance of 50 compared with Boddy's four, would be in a very favourable position if the application were granted. and unfair competition would result, VOLVOS SOLD IN BRITAIN
