Mr. Stacey joined Pickfords in 1906 and during the past 11 years has been chief removals and travel manager.

MR. A. 0. JORDAN has resigned his post as assistant managing director of General and Industrial Paints, Ltd., because of ill health. Be will continue as a director. MR. E C. HALL, who was appointed director and general sales manager in March, is now sates director.

SIR HERBERT MANZONI, Birmingham city engineer, has been elected president of the British Standards Institution. The offices of president and chairman of the general council have been combined. Sir Herbert was already chairman of the council. As president he succeeds SIR ROGER DUNCALFE. MR. JouN RYAN has been re-elected vice-president.

MR. J. V. WOODS and MR. 0. HuRRLE, production managers at the King's Norton works of the Triplex Safety Glass Co., Ltd., are to visit American factories to study methods of making curved windscreens. off Aust ferry pier, Gloucestershire, into the Severn last Saturday by one of the highest tides of the year. The almost empty tank gave the vehicle buoyancy, but the tide became too high and rescue attempts had to be abandoned.

JAIL FOR DRUNKEN DRIVERS IN future, drivers convicted at Ludlow I magistrates court of offences while driving under the influence of alcohol will be sentenced to a month's imprisonment and will be disqualified from driving for five years, unless the circumstances warrant a heavier penalty. This was announced in the court last week.
