USED DAF LF7.5-tonners are coming through in growing numbers, but they're still achieving book value and sometimes a little more, according to Allan Hilton, used vehicle salesman at King Lynn, Norfolk dealership Ford & Slater Dat That might reflect their popularity among one-time 45 Series loyalists. "I think a lot of operators who run the old 45 Series 7.5-tormers have been holding off replacing their trucks until second-hand LFs became more widely available," he says. "Until recently, all that was on offer was the odd demonstrator."The 170 and 180hp models are most popular, he adds:"We've sold one or two 150hp LFs, but 170hp is the minimum power output most customers will accept.

"We're pleased with the money LFs are fetching," says Matt Hammond, used vehicle sales we're concerned, we've sold examples at 150hp, and the customer hasn't queried the engine output. It just hasn't been an issue."

"We're starting to see one or two LFs appear at sales," says Jeremy Martell, national HGV and plant manager at Manheim."They're typically fetching around 5% above 'average' book value, and are proving to be good news."
