HONOURS FOR THE top women achievers inroad transport were awarded at last week's Road Haulage Association annual lunch.

The competition,now in its third year, is staged by Iveco and the RHA to reward women making an impact in the industry.

Dee Parsons, national support manager for Sainsbury's driver training operation in Rugby, won the administrative excellence award. She is involved in training Sainsbury's warehouse and officebased staff to drive trucks, and was a transport manager before joining the firm more than four years ago.

The category for women running a business was won by Mandi Kirby, who runs Burybased Gary Cannon Transport with her partner. The firm was set up a year ago and specialises in reefer work. Kirby says: "It's brilliant to win —it's recognition for a lot of hard work."

The operational excellence category was won by Kim Duncalf, who drives for Hull-based Edwards Logistics.
