Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Everything's bigger in America. When the American Trucking Association announced it was launching an advertising campaign to stress the industry's value to the country it attracted a staggering 'Sim contribution from leading US truck maker Freightliner. What the UK industry couldn't do with a million...

But that's exactly what the Freight Transport Association is asking for in support of its campaign to persuade the Government to scrap the fuel escalator: so far it's raised 1200,000 to add to its own £500,00c) contribution.

While it's not naming individual donors, at least one truck manufacturer has chipped in with £25,000. Good for them, whoever they are. Considering that every truck manufacturer relies on UK truck operators for their profits, it's only right they play a part.

But public opinion-changing advertising campaigns don't come cheap—and only by constantly bombarding politicians and the Great British Public with a constant diet of complaint does the industry have a chance of making the Government sit up and take notice.

The next wave of advertising hits the streets next month.. .and it won't be free. That's why everyone in the road transport industry should be putting their money where their mouth is and contributing to the campaign.

It would be nice to get a million dollars, but far better to get LI° from every 0-licence holder who so far hasn't contributed. CM is playing its part by helping distribute campaign material; you can do your bit by calling John Hix at the FTA on 01892 52671. Go on—you know it makes sense!
