Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A former rental firm has issued a writ against RDB Freight Lines to settle a year-long dispute over £38,000 it claims to be owed for trucks it loaned on contract hire.

Chesterfield-based Freight Services, which previously operated as Hunter Hire, says that the alleged debt forced it to pull out of truck rentals last year.

It is now concentrating on its driver agency and general haulage after retrieving the eight tractors and 13 trailers from RDB last year.

But RDB managing director Irving Warnett says his company owes Hunter "a fraction" of that culled for in the writ and that the rest is defended. The LlOrn-turnover private company is profitable and plans to open an extra depot at Wolverhampton in the West Midlands to handle new business. It already operates around 155 vehicles. Sheffield Auto Hire has withdrawn two trucks from RDB although it is not owed any money.

Freight Services owner Fred I Iunter says he has already recouped £6,800 from Sheffieldbased RDB after taking the general haulier to Chesterfield County Court in January.
