• United Carriers has recently invested £4.5m in 138 Leyland Daf and Mercedes rigid, artic and drawbar outfits.
The vehicles have JC Payne body systems and are liveried for its general parcels and carpet deliveries and the new European Express service.
Luton-bodied vehicles for carpet shifting have securing straps and rails fitted along the sides with winches to handle the long, heavy rolls.
