Leading a selling mission to Sweden from October 16 to 22, sponsored by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is Harry J. Millard, chairman of the Chamber's Europe section and joint managing director of Weston Works (Birmingham) Ltd., one of the W. P. Butterfield companies.

Coldpoint Precision Tools Ltd., of St. Albans, an associated company of the Simms Group, announces that A. J. Bryson, secretary of the company, has been appointed a director.

Lagan (Armstrong Whitworth (Metal Industries)), E. G. Sladczyk (Thyssen, Gt. Britain), Capt. G. J. Wright (61 Sqdn., RCT, Singapore). Frank Willowby Crews, secretary of the Institute of Transport for the past 25 years, retires on November 30 after nearly 40 years' service dating from April 1927 when he was appointed principal assistant to the secretary (the late Mr. A. Winter Gray). He became assistant secretary in 1935 and succeeded to the office of secretary in 1941. A former member of council of the old National Association for the Advancement of Education for Commerce, he was the first hon. secretary of the National Committee in Road Transport Education and has served continuously on the Committee since. He was also the first hon. secretary of the Port Education Conference and was subsequently the Institute's representative at the Conference.

E. G. Spearing has been appointed marketing director of Brown Brothers Ltd., and becomes responsible for all divisions of the company including those previously under the direction of R. C. Turner. N. F. Seabright, formerly northern region sales manager, is appointed general manager (sales) and will be based at the company's head office.

R. W. Jackson, liner trains manager of British Railways, retired on Friday after 45 years railway service. He was the first to be appointed to this new post, in January 1964, and has since been responsible for co-ordinating the regional and departmental contributions to inauguration of the Freightliner services between major cities.

M. A. Thomas has joined the Hoffman Manufacturing Co. Ltd. as a technical sales engineer at. the North London office, 2 Junction Road, Harrow.

For health reasons, B. Goodfellow will be retiring from the general managership of Sheffield United Tours Ltd. early next year but will still be associated with the company in a consultative capacity. He started his own bus and coach business in 1927 and joined Sheffield in 1948 as assistant general manager, becoming general manager in 1949. He has been chairman of the Continental section of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association for the past six years.

OBITUARY WE regret to record the death of Harold Hymans.

Mr. Hymans was managing director of Fodens (SA) (Pty.) Ltd., South Africa. He was visiting the Commercial Motor Show and the works in England when he died suddenly on Saturday at the age of 67. Mr. Hymans served his apprenticeship with Albion Motors and went to South Africa to join Foden agents Saker Bartle Co. When Fodens opened its own depot in Johannesburg in 1950 he was appointed director and manager.
