Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In your report (CM. April 30) of the BLM offer of joint consultation with operatol made at the fifth Annual Tipping Conventic at Blackpool, you quote me as sayini -The Albion RE29 is the best 'eight-legge on any market, home or abroad, but spoiled by a glass fibre cabin." I rather thir that in condensing your correspondent report part of what I said has been deleted editing.

In fairness to British Leyland I would 14 to put the record straight. What I did SE was:—

"British Leyland have two of the be value for money tippers on any marke home or abroad. These are the Albic RE29 and the Scammell Routeman.

In the case of the RE29 Leylar maintain an artificial shortage of this vehic in an endeavour to push sales of the RE3: This is a vehicle of similar specification 131 is equipped with the very expensive, easi damaged Leyland tilt cab.

When Scammell decided to produce a eight-wheeler tipper they went to tf operators for information and produced very good basic specification. They thE proceeded to spoil it by using a ye expensive easily damaged fibre glass cab." The above words were part of my reque that all British manufacturers should gi far more consideration to operators' viev when designing new vehicles. Berna Pickup responded to this by offering joi consultation.

British Leyland were good enough provide speakers and the support of P Pickup and other experts at the Conference. should not be assumed that BLMC are tl only offenders in this respect. My remarks ar those of the other speakers who spoke support were addressed to all Britii commercial vehicle manufacturers.
