DOUGLAS MORGAN, BRS Parcels Ltd, who won his class– -flat or sided artic up to 33ft—at last year's final, will return to Bramcote this year in search of top honours, for he won Class F at St Athan on Sunday and is this year's South Wales champion. Another Parcels driver and five from BRSL featured among the class winners. The only outsider was Cpl Pat Creamer, of RAF St Athan, who won Class B with what I believe to be the best qualifying score--only 29 penalty points—in the history of the competition.

It appears that to win a class in this year's competition drivers have to enjoy a clear run in Test 2—forward and reverse-width judgment; all the St Athan class winners went unpenalized in this one.

The Highway Code test is still toppling potential winners; with a maximum penalty for this test of 240 points scores of 130 to 190 were not unusual.

The unluckiest man of the day was surely Cpl Moss. With only 14 penalty points he began the final test on kerb parking, but then mounted the kerb and added 210 more.

It should be borne in mind that before entering the test area the 82 drivers had covered a 29-mile road route through Cardiff and Barry, during which they had met most conceivable hazards including the Welsh Car

Rally competitors. To add spice to the route, corporation workmen were digging a trench all morning!
