Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As an alternative to large single bodies on maximum zpacity tipping trailers, which can encounter stability problems at 41 tip, Milshaw Hydraulics Ltd, Holme Lane, Bradford 4, has completed ?sign studies for modular side-tipping, as illustrated here. in a typical example a 2-ton-gtw artic could have four modules, each 7ft long by 8ft 2in. wide and carrying a total of 22 tons. Shorter vehicles could xve two or three modules, but all would be made to a standard height—though with make-up pieces available for the carriage of 'w-density materials. Tipping gear would be built from standard hydraulic units and each ram would be capable of tipping to ther side, but using a combined latch and hinge for safety. An interlock in the control gear wouldpermit only one module to tip a time. It is claimed that the smaller body spans would permit lighter sections and wall thicknesses, so that weight and cost mild not increase; a total load would take no longer to discharge than with a conventional tipper, and for mixed jobs—for campl e, construction work—different products could be carried in each module. Milshaw invites operators' reactions to the 'ea to assess likely demand and applications.
