• A month from now Cummins will be revealing full details of the computerized maintenance service which its new subsidiary Mainstem Ltd will be offering in the UK. It will provide a com
puterized fleet management cost control system for vehicles and other equipment where maintenance is a critical operating cost factor.
Cummins reports that Mainstem (developed by Management Information Systems Inc) has proved very successful in the USA over the past five years; Cummins Engine Co Inc acquired

the system in April 1970.
Following an intensive market resear operation, it has been decided to launch t scheme in this country and the former depu managing director of Cummins Engine Ltd in Britain, Mr David W. Mansell, h been appointed Mainstem's managing d ector. He remains on the Cummins Board.
Mr Terry J. Goldrick will be joining Mal stem as fleet engineering manager on July he is transport facilities manager of Alli Breweries (Production) Ltd and was pi viously chief engineer of the Freight Tras port Association. Mr David P.M. Armstro has joined Mainstem as operations manag+ having been marketing analysis inanaE with Cape Universal Building Products.
