Commission and the Road Haulage Disposal Board, on Tuesday, issued a progress report on List 4. It showed separately the sales of contract-hire units, of which 40 per cent. (representing 21 per cent, of the contract vehicles) found buyers. The figures related only to vehicles without buildings. The highest bids were accepted for 280 units (697 vehicles) and all tenders were refused for 79 units (324 vehicles). No bids were received for 66 units (279 vehicles) and decisions on nine cases (36 vehicles) were pending. Altogether 434 units (1,336 vehicles) were offered. Among general haulage units, 254 (654 vehicles) were sold and 71 (275 vehicles) were withdrawn. No offers were made for 36 (167 vehicles) and no decision had been reached on nine units (36 vehicles). Twenty-six contract-hire units (43 vehicles), out of a total of 64 (204 vehicles), were sold, and all offers for eight (49 vehicles) were rejected. Thirty lots (112 vehicles) failed to find bidders.
