GWING evidence in support of a licence application by the O.K. Carrier Co., Ltd., Leeds, the manager of a large concern of electrical component manufacturers said that his company had a unique form of conveyor-belt system which had to be constantly fed to prevent a break in production for export. This could be achieved only through the flexibility of road transport.

In . the next few months 15 Guy Arabs are also being shipped for service in Chichiri, Blantyre, Nyasaland, under the same operating concern. These also have Duple bodies, specially designed for Central African operation and incorporating the Duple export construction of metal underframing and composite framework of special teak-substitute timbers. Exterior panelling is of aluminium with steel corner panels and wings. There are first-class and second-class compartments, and special attention is given to ventilation.

These buses form part of a large British fleet for Nyasaland, for operation under Government licence. Other buses are of utility type, comprising Bedford chassis with Mulliner bodies, and 11-seater Bedford 30-cwt. vehicles with coachwork by Allweather Bodies, Ltd., Kilburn, London.

rRITICIZING the railways for their

" stubborn " attitude towards longdistance road services, the road transportation board in Johannesburg has granted licences to two road operators to run coach services from that city to Durban. Public Utility Transport Corporation, Ltd., has been authorized to operate daily, with a running time of not less than 14 hours, and Mr, L Jackson to run a service three times a week in each direction.
