Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Exhibit :— One 35-45h. p. Bus ; one Bus Chassis.

In addition to a standard 35-45h.p. chassis, this company is exhibiting a 36-seated, do uble-deck omnibus

mounted on a similar chassis. In general arrangement, the chassis is much the same as last year's type,

but marked improvement has been made in some of the important details. Amongst these is the carburetter, which has now been replaced by a White and Poppy, and the result of this change has been a much quieter running engine. The tank portion of the radiator is now cast in aluminium, and the tubes are connected to the tank portion by flexible, anti-vibration joints. The magneto is mounted on the dashboard, and driven by gun-metal and fibre silent gear, directly off the end of the hinged layshaft. It is thus in a very accessible position, and the drive is absolutely silent. The frame now consists of a continuous outer frame of channel steel, straight, from end to end, with an inner frame, of lighter section, supporting the engine and gear-box. Tubular cross-stays are fitted to the outer frame.

Although a straight frame is used, the steering lock is 45 degrees either way.

The brakes have been revised, and, whilst the locomotive-type of footbrake has been retained, this type has been superseded by the contractinghand type for the hack-wheel brakes. The bands are lined with a particular kind of canvas belting, which will not char even when applied for long periods, and it has proved remarkably successful in use. Special attention has been paid to adjusting and renewal of both sets of brakes. The system of forced lubrication, which has always been adopted by this company, is still retained, the oil being forced, through a hollow crankshaft to the main engine bearings and big-ends of the connecting rods, by a small gear-driven pump. All omnibuses of this make are fitted with dual igniton, i.e., high-tension, with coil and accumulator, and lowtension magneto. The gear-boxes are of cast steel, with shafts very short between the bearings, in order to avoid springing of the shafts and consequent noisy running. There are four speeds forward, and one reverse. The engine gives its normal power at 75or.p.m., and a speed of 12 miles an hour. The overall length of the chassis is 18 feet 4.3. inches.
