Vosa fixes OCRS problems but delays implementation

VOSA SAYS IT has fixed the problem that has delayed the introduction of changes to its OCRS system.
However, a date for implementation has still not been announced, and the enforcement agency says it will discuss the matter with industry trade bodies before announcing one.
The changes, which include overhauling the predictive scoring system after the Freight Transport Association complained that it created a “misplaced assumption by the wider business community that OCRS is a good way to judge an operator at tender” , were originally due to take effect on 30 April. But days before its introduction, Vosa warned operators that unspecified “technical issues” would delay its introduction.
A Vosa spokesman says: “Having resolved the system issues that we found in April, we are now carrying out further system tests to ensure that the solutions we have put in place work correctly. We want to ensure the changes work correctly so that both Vosa staff and operators have access to accurate OCRS [data]. Once testing is completed we will liaise with the industry before arranging another introduction date.” l See page 18 for our interview with Vosa chief executive Alastair Peoples.
