• A total of eight East Lanes EL2000-bodied Dennis Falcons are going into service with North Western Road Car of Merseyside, part of the Drawlane group.
They will replace ageing single-deck Leyland Nationals.
The 48-seat Falcons will be based at North Western's Runcorn depot and will be used on the Runcorn Busway which links residential centres and industrial areas with the town centre.
The reserved track allows high average speeds and was completed in the seventies. It runs for several kilometres and has a twin platform station in the centre on elevated tracks.
The busway was operated by Crosville until last November.
