Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rlA SMALL coach operator claimed last week that if Manchester Transport Department extended its works service between Higher Openshaw and the 'Metropolitan-Vickers works, Trafford Park, his one-vehicle express service would be seriously affected.

After hearing this submission by Mr. E Bowker, trading as Bowker's Coaches, the North Western Traffic Commissioners adjourned the application because there was no representative of Metropolitan-Vickers present.

On behalf of the corporation, it was stated that the present starting point of their works service was Viaduct Street. People living in the Half-Way House area had to use normal service buses to Viaduct Street and then transfer to the works vehicles. MetropolitanVickers' traffic manager had written supporting the application.

Mr: Bowker said he had written to the company offering to provide additional facilities, as he operated an express 'service between Half-Way House and the factory via Viaduct Street. He was at present restricted to one vehicle, but was prepared to put on another if there was a demand. He had received no reply to his letter.

Mr. 1,Williamson, chairman, said he could not understand why MetropolitanVickers had not replied. Manchester Corporation should approach the company to send a representative who could say why Bowker's had not been asked to provide facilities. Meantime, Mr. Bowker should consider whether to apply for a second vehicle.
