THIRTY OWNER-DRIVERS who were fired by Bardon Aggregates' West Drayton depot last month hope to be reinstated after a meeting is held between the RMT and management over the next few days.

Charanjit Singh, known as -Freddie", claims he and the other drivers,who have all worked from the depot for over a decade. were fired following a strike to

achieve the reinstatement of another owner-driver who had been accused of violent conduct during a previous four-day strike (CM 30 June ).

"We all received letters stating that we were fired," he says. "We have been given no reason for this we were just told to have our vehicles out of the yard by 5 July.

"Management doesn't give a damn about us," he claims."We are

waiting and we are ready to work.Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT, wrote to the management at West Drayton at the beginning of July to arrange a meeting. Jnion representative SallyJenkins says:"The company has come back to us and has agreed to meet. We have no date vet but we hope to do it as soon as possible. These drivers' livelihoods are at stake."

Bardon declined to comment.
