Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The operator of a waste disposal truck which disrupted Inter-City train services across the West Midlands for five hours could face a bill of tens of thousands of pounds.

The „C128,000 eight-legger truck bashed a bridge in Fazeley Street, Birmingham, forcing some trains to divert. The truck was on hire to the Midlands Paper Recycling company from Municipal Vehicle Hire of Oldbury. Neither company will comment on the accident.

A RaiItrack spokesman says that a bill for the disruption is already being calculated and would run into many thousands of pounds. It will be based WI staff wages, disruption to service and damage to the bridge and the fact the accident happened during the morning rush.

Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to free the truck, but the driver was not hurt.
