• Wincanton Distribution's Mitcham, south London site which employs 150 staff including 50 drivers is threatened with closure.
The company is transferring some of its dedicated Iceland chilled work based at Mitcham to a former Glass Glover distribution site in Luton next October. Iceland is reducing Winc.anton's work in the south as it opens a composite depot at Swindon.
A Wincanton spokesman says 100 out of 150 staff based at Mitcham will be offered positions at Luton.
And a much smaller satellite Wincanton depot at Mitcham for Co-Operative Retail Services will also be hit as the contract moves from the town to north London later this year.
Staff were told late last week that the Mitcham depot will close unless replacement work is found.
