Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

INCREASING interest in top hung sliding doors was also reflected recently in bodies put into service with Buxted Poultry.

Made by S. Cartwright & Sons of Altrincham, Cheshire, these are also grp bodied van which have access both at the nearside and rear.

The main feature of the bodies is the door fitted to the nearside. The Wideslide, as it is called, has been specially adapted by Cartwright to suit refrigerated operation. Closing action is via a camoperated clamp, which provides effective compression sealing. Nearside and rear doors are 90mm thick, compared to 100mm for the rest of the vehicle body.

Like the Besco body, the Cartwright Wideslide overcomes many of the problems previously attributed to sliding door systems. The bottom tracks, which are of course particularly susceptible to fork lift truck damage, have been eliminated. The Wideslide runs on a top track only.

In addition, as Cartwright points out, many sliding door systems are subject to load shifting in transit and doors becoming trapped from the inside. The Wideslide, it is claimed, prevents both problems by the cam action of the lock. This moves the door away from the load inside. It also maximises internal width in relation to external width. When closed, the doors fit flush both inside and outside.

The heavy duty top track houses sealed-for-life bearings, two on top of the door. The bearings only support the door in the open position. When the doors are closed their is no weight on the bearings.

The Buxted vehicle interior is fitted with a moving bulkhead to cater for variations in the load. It also has dual temperature fan equipment, designed to maintain temperature levels for fresh produce in the rear. The refrigeration unit in this instance is a slimline Pefter MOC unit, chosen for its slimline evaporator.
