Former RHA staff launch road transport seminars

By Laura Hailstone EX-ROAD Haulage Association (RHA) chief executive Roger King, along with two former RHA directors, have joined forces to launch a programme of seminars aimed at road transport operators.

King is speaking at the first two seminars next month, which will explore the UK and EU political processes, along with media relationships and how hauliers can use them to their advantage. They will also address the winning of the public's hearts and minds. King tells CM: "Louise El'man. [transport select committee chair]. said we as an industry need to reach out to the public.

If we don't work harder to galvanise our industry, we will continue to be marginalised. We want to show how operators can raise awareness of our industry."

The seminars cost £225 to attend and are being held in Nottingham on 10 February and Birmingham on 24 February.

For more on the seminars, email: info@palmer-wright.com Mike Presneill, founder of pressure group TransAction and robust critic of King, says: "If King has got so much to give now, why wasn't it forthcoming during his nine-year reign at the RHA'?"

RHA president Andy Boyle adds: "There aren't many hauliers with a spare £225 right now."

King replies: "We don't know what the take-up will be, but while 1 was still at the RHA, a lot of people said there was a need for this type of presentation."
