'WO new models from Scania made their debut at the Brussels :ommercial Vehicle Show which opened on Wednesday.

Known as the 141 and 146, ■ oth models are powered b: n uprated version of the well .flown Scania DS14 V8 engine 5ee page 34).

The 141 on display is a 6x2 nodei with a 3.1m (10ft 2in) vheelbase, which is the same s inner axle spread by the ;candinavian definition. Bedford's new Chevanne mkes its continental debut nder the banner of General /lotors Continental.

Launched at Earls Court last 'ear, the Chevanne has a ;ayload capacity of 500kg approximately lOcwt).

Six versions of the Bedford "M range are on show includng the TM 3800, Bedford's top veight truck for the European narket. Power unit is the )etroit Diesel 8V-71 with an )utput of 236kw (316bhp). Ford of Belgium is showing r7 vehicles, its biggest ever xhibition, covering the cornilete range from the Escort to he Transcontinental.

Out of the ordinary to Briish eyes is the American built _ouisville Ford shown in 6x4 ipper form.

Making a first time appear ance outside the UK is the sleeper cab 6x4 ERF which was also announced at Earls Court. Designated 57C3, the truck features a Cummins engine and is plated for 57 tonne (56 tons) operation.

Another ERF exhibit is a short cab 40C2 tractive unit with a Cummins NHC 250 engine. Both trucks are displayed on the Cummins Distributor Belgium stand.

Also using Cummins power are the two exhibits from Seddon Atkinson, both from the 400 series. A 250 is used in the drawbar machine while the sleeper cab tractive unit is fitted with the more powerful 335.

Volvo has on display the new C202 cross country vehicle, being shown for the first time.

British Leyland appears in force with exhibits ranging from a Mini pickup to a TL12 engined Marathon drawbar rigid, with the short sleeper cab first seen at Earls Court.

Brussels show closes on Jan 23 and next week CM will carry a fully illustrated report.
