ANEW, fully insulated, portable welding transformer weighing only 57 lb. and capable of laying down up to 10 s.w.g. rods continuously, is now marketed in the UK by Messer Griesheim Ltd. Known as the Eltram 130, the unit carries a six months' guarantee and it will operate from an ordinary 13 amp. household socket.

It is claimed to produce an easy-striking stable electric arc at all current values and has seven current selection positions. The set is contained in a fully insulated plastics case and is .supplied with 10 ft. of mains cable and an adjustable shoulder strap for easy carrying.
