Reorganization

CHANGES to bus services in north, north%–.0 east and north-west London are to be introduced by London Transport on Sunday, January 23. Four important new travel facilities are included in the alterations.

Two of these have been made possible by the reconstruction of the railway bridge at Mill Hill Broadway, which is no longer an obstacle to double-deckers. They are the extension of the Turnpike Lane-North Finchley section of the 221 service to Edgware station and the re-routeing of service 52 at Orange Hill Road to provide for the first time a service along Deansbrook Road, Edgware, this new diversion terminating at Mill Hill Broadway.

The 221 extension will operate over route 125 from North Finchley to Bittacy Hill, thence by the 240A route to provide a direct link on weekdays from Wood Green and North Finchley to Mill Hill and Edgware.

The other new facilities are the introduction of a new service 104A between North Finchley and Golders Green via Finchley High Road and Lyttelton Road (extended to Barnet during peak hours) and the extension of service 191 from Lower Edmonton to Enfield Town via Nightingale Road and Southbury Road on weekdays. This latter service has been introduced following a Market Research Survey carried out by London Transport.

Service 104A will be operated by 72-seat RMLs and will operate on Mondays to Fridays only, providing a localized service on the sections of route between Golders Green and East Finchley and between North Finchley and Barnet (peak hours). This will help to improve regularity on the sections also covered by the longer routes 17, 102 and 104.
