Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AT a hearing in Edinburgh last week, which was E-L adjourned. Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. sought authority to operate express carriage services direct to Bournemouth and to vary their existing direct Glasgow/Boumemouth service. British Railways objected.

The applicants contended that there was a public demand for direct services, demonstrated by the heavy traffic from Glasgow and the limited traffic to Bournemouth from Edinburgh, which now involves a change at Victoria.

If granted, the two Bournemouth services would link at Abington to allow the most economic operation of the routes by the marriage of traffic at that point.

Opposition for Ribble: Carlisle Corporation are to oppose the application by Ribble Motor Services Ltd., to increase bus fares.
