HIGGINS, chief development assistant (buses and coaches), has been appointed principal executive assistant. His duties will include the general oversight of the experimental shops at Chiswick Works and both the electrical and mechanical work of the development section (road services).

MR. GRESHAM COOKE'S PROMISE ON ROADS

HISintentions to give special attention in industrial matters and to take an active interest in securing better roads were stated this week by Mr. R. Gresham Cooke, director of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, who has been adopted as Conservative candidate at Twickenham. Polling is on Tuesday week.

Sir William Rootes. chairmag of the Rootes Group and of the Dollar Exports Council, spoke in support of Mr. Cooke at Twickenham on Tuesday. It was important, said Sir William, for Parliament to have men with an intimate knowledge of exports and world trade
