Mr. Charles E. S. Lane retired recently after 50 years engaged in vehicle design, especially commercial-vehicle bodywork. He was responsible for the design of tankers for Pratts Motor Spirit in 1923-24 and was designer at Harrow Trailers in 1931-32.

Dr. D. Spencer, general manager of the industrial Gas Division, and Mr. W. Bowey, secretary and solicitor to the company, have been elected to the board of Air Products Ltd.

Mr. Dudley Bennett, vice-preSident of Dunlop France, has retired after 36 years with the Dunlop Group. Now 56, he joined the company's overseas division as a trainee in 1927, receiving his first overseas appointment in Spain at the age of 21. Mr. R. T. Mr. Knowles. who is 39, joined A.E.C. as a fitter in Mr. R. T. Knowles. 1947 and worked in

many of the factory's departments before joining the home sales force in 1951. He became manager of A.E.C.'s East Central region in 1958 and was appointed sales director of A.E.C. Vehicles (S.A.) Ltd. cri South Africa, later becoming managing director. He then went to South America, where he was responsible for co-operation between the British group and local manufacturers and marketing organizations.

Mr. Maurice F. Hudson, who is 40, has joined the board of Hubert H. P. Trist & Co. Ltd., of Bristol, manufacturers of Top-Dog brake and clutch linings, as home sales director. Succeeding him as home sales manager (friction materials), with effect from March 1, will be Mr. Arthur Moore, • 53, formerly Northern area manager, Mr. M. W. Shorter, previously managing director of Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co. Ltd., has been appointed deputy chairman.
