Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE survey of tipper chassis which follows makes brief reference to all the models produced by British manufacturers and recommended by them for tipping duties, including also tractive units which can be employed with tipping semi-trailers. British tipper operators probably have more models to choose from than equivalent operators in any other one country, for the survey includes approximately 200 models, many of which are available with a number of engine and transmission alternatives to widen the field still further. Despite this large choice, however, all-wheel-drive models are few and far between, whereas overseas such machines are used extensively on tipper work.

It must be emphasized that the models included in the survey are those recommended specifically by their manufacturers. It is physically possible to mount tipping bodywork on virtually any size and shape of goods chassis, but it is not good practice to ignore manufacturers' recommendations, and it is definitely a short-sighted policy to buy a long-wheelbase chassis merely for the sake of being able to employ a large body without having first consulted the chassis maker concerned. In the same way, overloading can quickly lead to chassis failures and heavy repair bills, and many operators who have unavoidably encountered overloading in the past are now turning to heavy-duty chassis in order to reduce dead time.
