Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE A.E.C. tipper-chassis production programme includes normaland forwardcontrol rigids and tractive units, all of which are diesel-engined. Fourand six-wheeled dumpers are made also. Lightest tipper is the Mercury 12-ton-gross model for 6-cu.-yd. bodies, whilst a slightly heavier version can opera IC at 14 tons gross with 8-cu.-yd. bodywork. There is also a Mercury tractive unit for use at 24 tons train weight.

A.E.C.'s next largest tipper type is the Mandator four-wheeler, rated for 14 tons solo or 24 tons train for use in the U.K. A heavy-duty four-wheeler is the Mogul normal-control model, which can operate at 19 tons solo and more than 30 tons train weight. Six-wheelers start in capacity withthe Marshal 6 x 2 and 6 x 4 models, both of which are rated for 20 tons gross solo, giving an approximate body capacity of 11 cu. yd. The Mammoth Major 6 doubledrive six-wheeler is another 20-ton vehicle in Britain, although it can operate at 25 tons overseas with bodies of up to 13 cu. yd. capacity.

The remaining A.E.C. six-wheeler is the normal-control Majestic, this being essentially an export vehicle for use at 25 tons solo. Biggest of the A.E.C.s is the Mammoth Major eight-wheeler, for 24 tons solo in the U.K. or 27 tons overseas; this doubledrive chassis can accommodate bodies of up to 15 cu. yd., Lighter models, such as the Mercury and Marshal, have the AV470 126-b.h.p. diesel, whilst the remaining chassis have either the AV590 128-b.h.p. or AV690 diesels.

ALBION Albion Motors Ltd., Scotstoun, Glasgow, W.4. ALL Albion tippers have forward control. the standard all-steel cab having entrance steps ahead or the front wheels. The baby of the clan is the basic Chieftain with Albion four-cylinder diesel and vacuum-hydraulic brakes: this model can gross at 10.75 tons

and is suitable for 5-5-cu.-yd. bodies. Another Chieftain is the Super Six model with Leyland 0.370 diesel and air-hydraulic brakes: the gross rating is 11.1 tons and the approximate body capacity is 6 cu. yd. Heaviest of the Albion four-wheelers is the Clydesdale 14-tonner with Leyland 0.400 engine. This can take bodies of up to 7.5-cu.-yd. capacity and is available with just one wheelbase-10 ft.—whereas the Chieftains are offered with three wheelbases.

The current Albion range includes two rigid six-wheelers, these being the Reiver 15.5-tonner and the Super Reiver 1785boner, both of which have double-drive and the Leyland 0.400 engine. Only one wheelbase is offered, this being 12 ft. 2 in., and the Reiver can take 8-cu.-yd. bodies, the Super Reiver being suitable for 9-cu.-yd. bodywork. The Reiver has air-hydraulic brakes and the Super Reiver full air braking. Although not classed as tippers by Albion, three tractive units with gross train ratings of between 17-75 and 20 tons are manufactured and presumably these could be used with tipping semi-trailers under suitable operating conditions,
