Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LIVERPOOL operator with connections to a string of defunct firms has lost his bid for interim authority while his application for a new 0-licence is considered.

Wallace Thorburn, trading as Thorburn International Transport. had applied for a licence based at the Huyton Industrial Estate. Liverpool. nominating Alan Pollard as his transport manager.

Last month the Transport Tribunal rejected an appeal against the revocation of a licence belonging to Crown Cold Stores & Distribution and the six-year disqualification of the company and its sole director. Karen Thorburn-Jones. from holding an 0-licence in any Traffic Area (CM 9November).

The firm had appeared before North-Western Deputy Traffic Commissioner Mark Hinchliffe over drivers hours offences and vehicle maintenance.

The revocation of that 0-licence came into effect at midnight on Friday (8 December).
