Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bridgestone, along with Continental, has been the main pioneer of ultra-low-profile tyres.

Interest in these tyres for UK operations is limited, because there is no height restriction. Continental, however, thinks its new 385-55 22.5 trailer tyre might prove a winner because it promises improved fuel economy through a lower trailer height, Theoretically a lower trailer should improve the airflow, so there is less aerodynamic drag and fuel economy improves.

Bridgestone and Continental have begun trials of super-lowprofile drive-axle tyres, but face several hurdles, including problems with axle design and possible legal challenges, before they become a reality. CM plans a full report next year.
