The Hawk's mission to advance the image of Reliant Robin drivers has suffered another setback. A bespectacled grandad set off in his Reliant Robin on a one-mile journey to visit his local DIY store in Loughborough, Leicestershire. It seems a trip to the optician would have been more in order, because the poor old chap couldn't see where he was going and missed his turning. Realising his mistake he turned around, but once again missed the turning. Eight hours later, following an extensive tour of Derbyshire's Peak district, the vehicle was spotted by a police patrol crawling along a road in Ripley, Derbyshire, 36 miles from home. When the driver told the officers where he had originally been heading he was given an eye test, which he failed. Relatives were called to take him home.
