BRS SOUTHERN'S failure to answer charges that it had permitted one of its drivers to exceed his duty time on 12 occasions has led to the case being adjourned by St Neots magistrates until January 17.

The driver, Stewart Milner, of Luton, admitted 13 offences of exceeding five-and-a-half hours' duty without taking the required 30 nnnutes' break. He was tined 1;170 with :.25 costs.

John Rose, prosecuting for the Eastern Licensing Authority, said that the offences came to light following a roadside check on the A45 in July. Tachograph showed that Milner had worked for periods varying between six hours 32 minutes and rime hours 43 minutes.

Milner was fined GO on one offence committed in August, after the check, and £10 on each of the remaining charges.
