Conrad Downton
CONRAD Michael Downton, managing director and proprietor of C. M. Downton Haulage Contractors, of Frampton on Severn, Gloucester, died on November 22 aged 53.
Conrad Downton started the company with one tipper carrying gravel from a local pit. Today, its fleet comprises 12 artics, four skip loaders and two rigids carrying beers, mineral waters, milk, powders and general traffic.
The firm is now run by his widow Anne and his sons Andrew, Richard and John.
