Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

private-party operation, involving Mothers Motors, Ltd., Wallasey, and Wallasey Transport Department, led to the adjournment of an application by .Mr. H. C. Cox, Mason Street, New Brighton, to add 18 new excursions to his licence.

Mathers Motors objected to the application, which was heard by the North Western Traffic Commissioners. at Liverpool, last week.

Mr. E. A. Whitehead, for Mr. Cox, said that 17 of the new destinations were for away matches of New Brighton A.F.C. with Messrs. Harding and Mathers Motors, they had a common schedule of destinations, and those being applied for would not he objected to if the other operators made application.

Mr. F. Williamson, chairman. intervened to comment on a letter sent by Mr. Whitehead to the Commissioners, Mathers Motors and Wallasey Corporation, concerning irregularities in privateparty operation for New Brighton Supporters Club. If allegations were to be made against the Corporation, he said, they were asking for an adjournment to be legally represented.

Mr. Whitehead said that he could not say at that stage. Until the 1955-56 season there had been no coach facilities for away matches.

Advertisements had appeared in local newspapers for trips to Great Crosby, Nelson, Earlestown and Stockport, in September, October and November, this year. These had been made by vehicles run by Mothers and the ,corporation.

If the corporation's vehicles were on hire to another operator, there would appear to be otTences by the hirer under Section 61 of the Act, or otherwise by the corporation under Section 101.

FIGHT FOR GLASGOW TRAM ROUTE

AN application by McGill's Bus Service, Barrhead, seeking permission to replace with buses, trams operated by Glasgow Corporation, was opposed by Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd., before the Scottish Traffic Commissioners, in Glasgow, last week. The applicants propose to inaugurate a service from Speir's Bridge, near Paisley, to Renfrew Ferry.

As reported in The Commercial Moior last week, Western S.M.T. are also applying for authorization to replace Glasgow trams by buses, and McGill's are among the objectors. Other objectors to McGill's application are Cunningham's Bus Service, Paton's Bus Service. Renfrew County Council and Paisley Town Council.

Mr. F. McGill admitted that Western S.M.T. already operated from Barrhcad centre to Speir's Bridge on a short-term basis. "But this service does not continue to Renfrew Ferfy," he pointed out.

The hearing of both applications was adjourned.
