A Brief Report of the Power-driven Agricultural Exhibits.

THE ANNUAL show organized by the Smithfield Club opened at the Agricultural Hall on Monday, December 6th, and closed on the following Friday. As in past years, many mechanical vehicles were exhibited, and-a, notable feature was the increased number of farm tractors which were shown. This is indeed a welcome sign of the times. The Smithfield Show is a favourite one with agriculturists generally, and it affords manufacturers a favourable opportunity for approaching farmers in

their own domain. . The usual number of steam tractors, traction engines, and other agricultural tackle produced by old-established firms that have exhibited uninterruptedly for years was to be seen. The Smithfield Show is not a show which usually brings forth anything new or revolutionary in design ; albeit on this occasion two new little tractors particularly suitable for use in orchards were on view. We have not the space at aur, disposal to deal with the exhibits at any great length, and perhaps as the Shaw is now over this is unnecessary. Our brief report, however, is valuable as showing the progress which is undoubtedly being made in connection with the employment of powcr-driven machinery for agriculture—a branch of the industry which bears promise of a great future.
