Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A comprehensive travel ticket introduced by Merseyside PTE and believed to be the first of its kind in Britain has wooed back more motorists to public transport.

This is the conclusion of a market survey carried out by the PTE into the results of the Traveller Ticket first brought into operation on January 9 for an experimental eight weeks. With weekly sales growing steadily each week and now in excess of 2500, the experiment is being continued until July 1.

Mr A. Burrows, director-general of the MPTE, told CM: "Our market surveys show that 13.7 per cent of the people now

using traveller tickets previously travell by car. No other scheme yet tried has shor such a remarkable result. The Travel ticket would appear to be very useful people who do a lot of travelling in the ai and particularly from the more outlyi parts of the area."

Mr Burrows said that transport und takings in other parts of Britain had sha interest in this ticket. As far as is known other undertaking has operated a sche. which gives a ticket that can also be used trains, and ferries as well as buses opera. by three organizations — in this case MPTE, Crosville and Ribble.
