THE S.J.C. points out that difficulties .have been experienced recently in respect of the implementation of the agreement between it and the Air Ministry for the haulage of sand and
ballast to Air Ministry sites. 'This agreement was circulated on May 31, 1943, and an amendment of it on September 28,
The Air Ministry now states that where a haulier has claimed payment for the operation of A or B vehicles at rates authorized by the agreement, but has received payment on a lower basis as the result of a definite refusal on the part of the Air Ministry works con-tractor to 'conform to the agreed scales, the Ministry will give sympathetic consideration to any claim advanced by.. the haulier for supplementary remuneratitin tb bring the' amount -received up to the sum which would have been produced under the agreed scale.
Such a haulier should, therefore, approach the works contractor concerned, and, in the event of a further refusal, submit bis claim to the tinderSecretary of State, Air Ministry, F.3.G., 16, • Randolph Gardens, London, N.W.6, supported by the following information: — Nathe and address of contractor and/or subcontractor concerned ; location of Air
Ministry site ; date on "which payment on the basis of the agreement was first cla.imesl; date from which payment on this basis is claimed; copies of bills submitted to the contractor for payment, together with signed certificate' showing amount received and date of payment ; any other information which will enable the Ministry to establish the claim and effect prompt settle.men, If this procedure does not prove satisfactory, the haulier should submit ,full particulars of his case to ths secre

The Ministry has given notice ot its intention to terminate the agreement in its present form, as from May 1, 1944; but -the S.J.C. is in correspondence with it on this matter.
