A useful petrol-electric generator unit, with an output of 1-3. kilowatt, is announced by B,E.N. Patents, Ltd., 92, Tottjnham Court Road, London, W.1. This compact plant is suitable for operating electric tools, as well as machines of moderate consumption rate. The unit can be supplied on a pneumatic-tyred trolley and has an overall length of 6 ft., a Width of 1 ft. 10 inn, a height of 3 ft. 8 ins, and an approximate weight of 4 cwt.

U.S. Grip on Indian Market.

During the nine months ended December last India imported 1,820 commercial vehicles and chassis, valued at £219,333, as contrasted with 3,498 and £361,392 respectively in the corresponding ,period of 1931. Of the total 1,165 vehicles, or about 62 per cent., are credited to the United States, as against 355 to Great Britain, 274 to Canada and 26 to "other countries."

Useful New Accessories.

S. Smith and Sons (Motor Accessories), Ltd., Cricklewood Work's, London, N.W.2, has sent us brief details of two new lines which it has recently placed on the market. One is a tow rope, which is made from special plough steel. It is supplied in lengths of 14 ft., one type for loads up to 2i tons being priced at 12s. 6d., ana anotheefor loads up to 3 tons 5 cwt. at 14s. 6d.

The other device is the Keen automatic door stop, which is designed to overcome the annoyance caused by a swinging garage door.

During the year 1932 the India Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain), Ltd., made a net profit of £22,478, as contrasted with a loss of £161,186 in the preceding year. • The British Aluminium Co., Ltd., Adelaide House, King William Street, London, E.4J.4, has removed its Birmingham office and warehouse from 21, Barwick Street to Lawley Street and Landor Street.

• The East London Rubber Co., 29-33, Great Eastern Street, London, E.C.2, advises us that it is now handling the Edge manifold for Fords. This component, we are told, enables Ford vehicles to be run on vaporizing oil.

The Brush Electrical Engineering Co.; Ltd., Loughborough, has received an order for four 20-seater bus bodies from Hants and Dorset Motor Services, Ltd., and for three 32-seater bodies from the Western National Omnibus Co., Ltd: The Motorine Log Book.

Prices Patent Candle Co., Ltd., Battersea, London, S.A47-.11, has issued a useful and comprehensive log book which should be of value to the cou0' mercial-vehicle driver as well as to the owner of a private ear for, apart from its record pages, it contains main-road maps of England, Wales and Scotland, and numerous hints on the efficient upkeep of motor vehicles of all classes.

A Feature of the Ideal Home Exhibition.

One of the most interesting features of the Ideal Home Exhibition, which is being held at Olympia now and up to April 29, is the reproductions of the rooms where famous scientists have won fame. The men concerned include Sir Isaac Newton, who discovered the compound nature of white light ; Michael Faraday, who founded the principles of the mechanical generation of electric currents ; Chevalier Marconi, and Archimedes, who invented the water screw, investigated the properties of the lever and discovered the principles of specific gravity.
