Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW INTERNATIONAL licence has been granted to an operator whose other haulage company went into liquidation in ApriL Doncaster-based McGregor Logistics had sought a new international licence authorising the operation of two vehicles and two trailers before North Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney Asked about his connections with the liquidated firm Motorworks, director Keith Law told the TC that they were separate businesses which had been set up for different reasons. The McGregor licence application was dated 29 March and on that date Motorworks had not been in liquidation.

That company had suffered a bad debt of .£80,000 and in the same week it had lost its main contract with Norfolk Line, working for Ikea. McGregor Logistics had been formed in 2004. It had operated the Doncaster Truckstop and a cafe, and was also a freight forwarding company. Motorworks had been set up purely for the Norfolk Line Ikea contract.

It had continued to operate until the end of April. All the creditors had been paid apart from himself and the Inland Revenue, which had not been prepared to wait for its money and had put the firm into liquidation In reply to the TC, Law reported that he had a contract running between October and March to bring in Spanish produce for Asda.

Granting the application, the TC said he wanted evidence of satisfactory finance and three months of bank statements by the end of the year to prove the company was still viable. The undertaking that the financial information requested would be submitted satisfied the TC that the licence application should be granted, particularly as the only unpaid creditors had been Law himself and the Inland Revenue.
