FOUR remote tachograph centres are now in operation, and the leading manufacturers expect to have more by the end of the year.
Veeder Root has three licensed, at Distington (Cumbria), Barrhill (Ayreshire), and Huntly (Aberdeenshire), and plans to have another eight to ten in operation by the end of the year, These will be in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Lucas Kienzle so far has only one —at Newtown in Powys — but has plans ultimately to have 20 to 30 in operation.
Smiths Industries have four centres awaiting approval.
