Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Steyr has signed a licensing agreement with Rockwell Automotive to market its ADM automatic drivetrain management system in North and South America (CM 17-23 September 1992).

Rockwell will offer the Steyr electronics and software with its own axles and differentials: the first American test vehicles should be ready for field tests early next year.

Steyr will launch ADM in Europe at around the same time; its says several manufacturers are interested in the system for a range of military and civilian vehicles.

ADM is designed for heavy 4x4s and 6x4s. It uses sensors to monitor wheel rotation— vehicles equipped with ABS can use the existing wheel sensors. If wheel spin is detected cross and inter-axle diff-locks can be activated electronically to improve traction.

When conditions improve ADM will automatically unlock the differentials.
