Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DENMARK HAS become the latest country to test 60-tonne 25.25-metre trucks on its roads. The longer, heavier vehicles (LHVs) will be allowed on specified main roads from 24 November for a three-year trial period.

Earlier this year, the Dutch government re-introduced its 60-tonne weight limit for LHVs, which had been temporarily abandoned because of fears for weak bridges.

The UK's Department for Transport rejected the idea of an LHV trial in June. although it has since revealed it is considering authorising longer semi-trailers (CM 9 October).

Pressure to introduce larger trucks across Europe continues to be brought by trade organisations. At this year's IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, these included the International Road Transport Union (IRU), German car and truck manufacturer lobby group VDA, and the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
